This year the YES Film Festival is delighted to present a diverse selection of 9 short films from around the world. Two of these will screen with feature films that complement them, while the other 7 will be shown in this year’s short film program, “TALL TALES, SHORT FILM.”

Paul, a man down on his luck, enlists his stepson, Freddie, to push their broken down car to a junkyard – to save the towing fee. As they navigate their way through city streets, they also must navigate through their own troubled relationship. A perfectly delightful and touching film. Director Joe Lyons will conduct a post-film discussion of “SALVAGING.”

Anna, a reclusive, elderly widow, played by Viola Harris (Sex and the City, The Other Guys, Deconstructing Harry), lives in quiet desperation until she begins receiving daily calls from a silent stranger. An odd and mysterious friendship evolves, and empty days are given new hope. But then the calls abruptly end.

It is 1956. The previous year, the mutilated body of 14-year old Emmett Till was found in a Mississippi river. William Bradford Huie of Look magazine sits down with the two men acquitted of the boy’s murder. Based on a true story. Director Rob Hill will conduct a post-film discussion.
